GetBackers, finally done thanks to YouTube.
I've just finished GetBackers... despite trying to pace myself to minimize the inevitable sadness I feel whenever I finish something, it couldn't be avoided. *sigh*

Simplistic, and sweet. A story of agape love, and phileo love, even if everyone interprets it as eros (yaoi has corrupted us all!!). Though it's a shounen anime, I'm glad the story did not resolve in fighting. Instead, redemption is a main theme, since every character is pretty much traumatized either by unrequited love, or self-contained heroism. You could feel the pain of MakubeX, who thought he had been abandoned by all his friends. Or Toshiki, who disbelieved in his leader's trust of him and sought vengeance on the one who he thought was his leader's favourite.

Instead, GetBackers is about mending the broken self. Ginji realizes he is not meant to be the cold "Lightning Emperor" who can save everyone. Ban needs absolution from his inner demons, and finds hope in Ginji's unswerving support. With Ban to lead him and protect him from himself, Ginji is allowed to become the naive, affectionate, and optimistic goofball he would rather be.

Even their simple job as retrieval agents is all about regaining wholeness. In the beginning, I wondered why these two guys would rather live like bums, when they came from such glorious pasts and had so much power. Now I understand that instead of using their power to impose their utopian vision, they sought instead to change the world only through selflessness.

Just a little sad I didn't get to the manga before the anime. Manga will always be better than the anime for me, but animes are just so darn fun to watch! lol

Next on the list? I'm still looking for BLAME!, but being IRC'tarded I can't figure out how to get any except the crap of TokyoPop. Almost willing to pay for NarutoFan...

Also want to finish Samurai Champloo... I like the wicked style and fighting, even though the story is not too original so far. Ok, so I think Jin is hot, y'happy? lol

Still reading: Gantz (it's not done yet, so I'm pacing... for a bloody, violent manga, it's surprisingly addictive. fast action yet philosophical, a lot of weird stuff going on, and nowhere near finding out what Gantz is. And stop killing off all the characters I was beginning to like! lol)

Guilty pleasure: Bleach (I don't mind the fillers... Can't wait for Aizen to come back to rain fire from the skies!)

Man, I could waste my life on anime/manga, and still not be done. Eep.
